Elvis Presley did not give more, the actor was already very committed to Priscilla Beaulieu when the Mexican actress acted alongside him in the 1963 musical 'Fun in Acapulco'.

Cárdenas was interviewed by Raúl Velasco in a TV episode of 'Always on Sunday', where she confessed that the spark turned into a very nice friendship with the American actor, who loved everything Mexican and who was striving to speak Spanish even if it was 'howl and cut'.

Elsa Cárdenas, a film, theater and television actress, was born in Tijuana, Baja California on August 5, 1935. Her English proficiency led her to act from an early age in Hollywood with stars such as James Dean, Rock Hudson, Elizabeth Taylor and Elvis Presley.

Elvis worked with three Mexican actresses. He played the role of Dolores del Rio's son in 'Flaming Star' (1960) and Katy Jurado's stepson in 'Stay Away, Joe' (1968), but only with Elsa Cárdenas was he presented as part of a romantic couple.

Although Presley was in the midst of a racial scandal for alleged statements that he did not like Mexican women, Elsa told 'Always on Sunday' that when she worked with Elvis, he was always very joking and playful, and that during the filming of 'Fun in Acapulco', he sent vanilla ice cream to the whole cast.

Presley never stepped on the port of Acapulco to film the tape, only scenery was used to emulate the Mexican paradise. The kiss between Dolores Gómez (Elsa Cárdenas) and Mike Windgren (Elvis Presley) took place inside a car, where Elvis also sang to Elsa while she was driving.
